Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) seeks a Traffic Safety and Engineering Services Manager (Professional Engineer III) to lead the branch and provide statewide leadership in traffic operations, safety, and engineering programs.

The role emphasizes policy development, statewide program oversight, collaboration with regional staff, and representation at state and national levels. A valid CO PE license and 3 years of professional PE experience, including supervisory duties, are required.

Qualifications

  • Current, valid Professional Engineer license from the Colorado State Board.
  • Three years of professional PE experience, including supervisory roles.

Responsibilities

  • Establish statewide transportation safety and traffic engineering policies and procedures.
  • Create and deliver communication plans to inform stakeholders of new policies.
  • Refine traffic and safety tools with Region staff for efficient project delivery.
  • Monitor national trends and update CDOT policies accordingly.
  • Coordinate Branch activities with Regions, FHWA, NHTSA and others.
  • Represent CDOT at public meetings and engineering forums on program issues.
  • Collaborate on task forces and quality improvement teams as SME.
  • Respond to technical inquiries concerning CDOT policies and standards.
  • Assist in planning for traffic and safety initiatives in capital and asset projects.
  • Oversee budget, equipment, travel, and contracts; supervise staff.
