Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified Project Engineer with 2-5 years' experience to join our Traffic Engineering and Planning Group in Albany, Syracuse, White Plains, or Poughkeepsie. The role involves working on various projects alongside transportation planners, highway engineers, transit professionals, structure engineers, and construction inspection staff.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading or preparing traffic impact and safety studies
• Leading traffic evaluation for multi-modal transportation planning projects
• Evaluations of existing and proposed transportation improvements
• Developing roadway, trail, and sidewalk designs
• Intersection design including roundabouts and traffic signals
• Checking design calculations
• Preparation of construction contract documents
• Project coordination, report writing, and estimating
• Client communication

• Proficiency in traffic engineering software (Synchro, Vissim)
• Planning and conducting engineering work independently
• Applying standard technology and procedures
• Analyzing and evaluating project applications
• Understanding project objectives and scope
• Completing engineering assignments of varying complexity
• Participating in project meetings and presenting engineering aspects
• Report writing for projects
• Managing staffing, scope, schedule, and budget for projects
• Client relations management for routine projects
• Delegating and supervising junior staff
• Guidance on complex technical issues
• Knowledge of NACTO, MUTCD, ADA, and state DOT requirements
• Strong analytical, communication, and public speaking skills

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering (ABET/EAC accredited or equivalent). P.E. licensure is a plus.

2-5 years of relevant experience required.

Skills in MicroStation, AutoCAD, ESRI ArcGIS, Synchro, Vissim, or Adobe Illustrator are advantageous.

Active membership in a professional organization preferred.

Compensation

Range varies by location: Albany & Syracuse: $34-$42/hour, Poughkeepsie: $36-$45/hour, White Plains: $38-$49/hour. Compensation depends on experience and qualifications.
