Job description

What We're Looking For:

Position: Traffic Engineer (PE)

Barge Design Solutions is seeking a Traffic Engineer (PE) to join our Nashville, TN office.

Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct and manage Traffic Impact Studies (TIS) for various development projects.
  2. Perform operational analyses using Synchro, SIDRA, and HCS to evaluate intersection and corridor performance.
  3. Design and review traffic signal plans, including phasing, wiring, and detection layouts, in compliance with TDOT and local standards.
  4. Collaborate with project team members, client representatives, and review agencies to resolve complex problems.
  5. Supervise work of less experienced engineers and technical support personnel.
  6. Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, plans, specifications, and permits.
  7. Use engineering software to prepare design documents.
  8. Prepare cost estimates for projects.
  9. Conduct site visits as needed.
  10. Demonstrate attention to detail, organizational and time management skills.
  11. Build and maintain interpersonal relationships.
  12. Understand TDOT and Nashville Department of Transportation systems, policies, and procedures.
  13. Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology.

  3. PE license in TN or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  4. Experience with CAD software such as OpenRoads, AutoCAD, or MicroStation V8i.
  5. Experience with traffic modeling software like Synchro, Vistro, or SIDRA.
  6. Knowledge of engineering principles, MUTCD, HCM, and ITE Trip Generation Manual.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  8. NDOT and/or TDOT project experience preferred.
