Job summary

AWP Safety, Inc. is seeking a Traffic Planner to develop work area traffic control plans that meet customer work zone and project phasing needs. You will also assist with safety initiatives and manage safe work environments across multiple projects.

You will design plans using AutoCAD or Rapid Plan, submit to authorities, and coordinate with dispatch and customers. The role requires MUTCD knowledge, ability to read blueprints, and a valid driver’s license. Lifting up to 50 lbs is expected.

Qualifications

• Proficient in AutoCAD 2015 and/or Rapid Plan to draft plans to industry standards.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; basic GIS tools.
• Knowledge of MUTCD (most recent edition) for plan design.
• Able to read and understand construction blueprints and specs.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Meet with customers to develop work area traffic control plans and determine permit needs.
• Develop and submit quotes for plans.
• Design and draw temporary traffic control plans to MUTCD/Rapid Plan standards.
• Submit plans to City/controlling agencies for review and approval.
• Coordinate with the branch manager for permit services as required.
• Attend meetings with customers and City/controlling agencies.
• Revise plans per agency direction.
• Facilitate coordination between dispatch and contractor for statewide projects.
