The Texas Department of Transportation Houston District seeks a highly qualified Professional Engineer to serve as the Traffic Maintenance Programs Manager within the Transportation Operations Section. Reporting to the Director of Transportation Operations, the position emphasizes partnership with local
Supervises personnel engaged in transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, design, construction, transportation/traffic operations, maintenance and/or bridge inspection. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials, private entities and/or contractors. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.
Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science; bachelor’s or higher degree accepted by TX PELS.

The Traffic Maintenance Programs Manager provides leadership and oversight for a variety of transportation operations and right‑of‑way programs that support the Houston District’s six‑county region. The position works closely with local governments, railroads, utility companies, developers, and internal stakeholders to solve problems, build partnerships, and support the district’s transportation mission. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, sound engineering judgment, and a commitment to customer service, safety, and continuous improvement.
