Job summary

GFT in Nashville is seeking an emergent Traffic/ITS Project Engineer to support our Transportation Group. This hybrid role requires three days on-site.

You will work on traffic analysis, modeling, and roadway design to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency across Tennessee and the Southeast, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. You will develop designs, perform ITS analyses, prepare bid packages, and engage with clients to provide updates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil or Electrical preferred) or relevant discipline.
• Professional Engineer license preferred (on the path to licensure).
• 3-5 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Traffic signal and/or fiber optic communication system design experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of ITS Architecture is a plus.
• Experience with CADD (e.g., MicroStation).
• Expertise with MS Office.
• Ability to travel as needed.
• Some experience with management of project tasks.
• Strong desire in developing a career in ITS.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design services throughout the project life-cycle, from concept through construction.
• Work with lead engineer and other disciplines to prepare appropriate designs, as dictated by the scope of work.
• Perform engineering analysis related to design, implementation, and operations of ITS elements and sub-systems.
• Analyze moderate to complex design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures.
• Assess the impact of construction and utility work on the ITS infrastructure and develop necessary mitigation measures.
• Develop engineering drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages.
• Communicate with clients on task oriented issues and on project issues under the direction of the project manager.
• Use strong writing skills and engineering planning to develop guidance documents and reports such as systems engineering documents.
• Interact with clients to relay clear, concise and consistent project related updates.
• Participate in projects by completing tasks within schedule and budget.
• Participate in meetings, seminars, conferences, and committees.
• Perform project site visits and field work.
• Assist with testing and resolving technical issues during new installations or modifications of ITS field equipment.

As GFT continues to grow and expand, we are seeking an emerging Traffic/ITS Project Engineer to support our Transportation Group in Metro Nashville, TN. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum of 3 days of onsite office attendance.

In this role, you'll apply your technical expertise in traffic analysis, modeling, and roadway design to improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of transportation systems across Tennessee and the Southeast. What you will bring to our firm

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil or Electrical preferred) or relevant discipline.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $95,000 - $120,000. Salary is dependent on experience and geographic location.
