AECOM is seeking a well-qualified Traffic or ITS Engineer to support a hybrid role across the Greater Midwest and Greater Southwest. The role offers impactful work on transportation projects and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to deliver plans, studies, and designs.

Responsibilities include traffic analysis, forecasting, safety studies, ITS projects, and preparing specifications, reports, and presentations.

Qualifications

• BA/BS and 4 years of relevant experience.
• Preferred 5+ years in civil engineering: traffic control design, traffic studies, ITS engineering.
• PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with traffic simulation software.
• Proficient English communication.

• Produce plan sheets, specifications, estimates, reports, and presentations.
• Advance ITS or emerging technology projects following systems engineering processes.
• Serve in various roles on traffic/ITS projects and coordinate with teams.
• Review technical work and manage tasks to schedule and budget.
• Collaborate with business development to capture project opportunities.

Job Description

AECOM is seeking a well-qualified Traffic or ITS Engineer to support a hybrid role in one of many different offices across the Greater Midwest and Greater Southwest. Responsibilities include:

• Traffic analysis, forecasting, safety studies, traffic simulation, and conceptual planning/design.
• Plan sheets, specifications & estimates, technical memoranda, reports, presentations and other project documentation
• ITS or emerging technology projects following the systems engineering process
• Serve in various roles on traffic/ITS projects.
• Actively participate in the team’s production of technical deliverables ranging from plans, specifications, estimates, reports, memorandums, etc.
• Work with Early in Career staff and help review technical work and project documentation
• Deliver assigned tasks on schedule and budget, while adhering to AECOM quality standards
• Coordinate directly with other discipline groups within AECOM, as well as with external clients and sub-consultants
• Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
• Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
• Coordinate with Business Development leaders to capture project opportunities

Minimum Qualifications

• BA/BS and 4 years of relevant experience demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred minimum 5 years of experience with an emphasis in civil engineering fields such as traffic control design, traffic studies, ITS engineering, traffic staging within Agency and DOT standards and projects.
• Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain PE license in 6 months
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Experience using Traffic and Traffic Simulation Software and design platforms.
• Ability to work as a member of a team or perform independent work as required.
• Good interpersonal skills, good command of the English language both, verbally and written, the ability to express thoughts clearly, good time management skills, and a good attitude towards work.

Additional Information

• This role does not provide Visa Sponsorship.

To support this commitment, all newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $85000 to $125000.
