Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation in Austin, TX is seeking an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Analyst I or II to advance statewide ITS and traffic signal initiatives. The role contributes to design, analysis, and implementation of automated traffic management systems, with opportunities for on‑the‑job training and cross‑functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, electrical engineering, telecommunications. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis.
  • ITS Analyst I: 1 year experience in system analysis, design, computer programming.
  • ITS Analyst II: 3 year experience in system analysis, design, computer programming. Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
  • Licenses: Valid driver’s license for operating a state vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Develops ITS solutions including writing design documentation, methods, data flow charts, and testing.
  • Analyzes user requirements and evaluates hardware/software used in ITS.
  • Coordinates with ITS designers and districts on software and hardware system applications.
  • Provides training and technical support for ITS.
  • Reviews contracts and monitors ITS-related projects for compliance.
