Louisville Metro Government is seeking an experienced engineer to oversee the design, construction, testing and implementation of municipal projects. You will review plans, specifications and contracts and supervise on-site inspections to ensure safety and quality.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least two years of engineering experience; additional education may substitute for experience. The department offers comprehensive benefits and a supportive work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Two years of engineering experience.
• Additional education in Engineering may be substituted for experience.
• Must wear safety equipment as mandated by OSHA.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Meets regular and punctual attendance standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the engineering function of design, construction, testing and implementation of construction projects.
• Reviews engineering plans, specifications, and contracts.
• Conducts on-site inspections to review and inspect progress and resolve issues.
• Analyzes survey reports, maps, drawings, and other data to plan projects.
• Reviews highway and road designs for compliance with standards.
• Calculates estimates of quantities and cost of materials, equipment and labor.
• Provides technical assistance concerning design, construction, and repairs.
• Conducts studies of traffic patterns or environmental conditions to identify problems.
