Job summary

WSP USA invites applications for a Full-Time Summer Roadway Internship in Lexington, KY (with Louisville, KY as an alternate site). This 12-week program starts May 17, 2027, and runs through August 2027, offering hands-on roadway design training with senior staff.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering or related Undergraduate program with anticipated graduation December 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Roadway Design and Transportation or related field.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, and tools.
• Uphold workplace safety and adherence to health, safety and harassment policies.
• Authorization to work in the United States at internship start.

Responsibilities

Our Civil/Roadway Design Teamis seeking a Full-Time Summer Roadway Internto work out of our Lexington, KYoffice.The following locations will also be considered: Louisville, KY. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program.

This internship will be part of the WSP Summer Internship Program. As a summer intern, you have the opportunity to participate in our 12-week program scheduled to start on May 17th, 2027. The individual start date of the internship may be flexible.

The intern will receive introductory training in roadway design engineering principles related to transportation infrastructure. The candidate will develop a working knowledge of applicable design standards and will learn to use the required engineering and design software necessary to support these tasks, with learning reinforced through practical application on active projects.

Your Impact

• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
• Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.

Required Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering or related, Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of December 2027or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Roadway Design and Transportation or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP's work and projects.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering or related, Masters or PhD program with an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later.
• Experience using Microsoft Office, CADD, GIS, Adobe, and/or Bluebeam products.
• Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.
