Job summary

Traffic/Safety Engineering Intern at AECOM in Raleigh, NC. You will support traffic safety and operations projects, analyze crash data, and help develop design ideas while gaining mentoring from transportation engineers.

We are seeking a motivated student pursuing a civil engineering degree with at least one year of study completed. Strong communication skills and familiarity with Power BI/Tableau are a plus.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Must have completed at least one year of undergraduate study.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) and basic data science concepts.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; willingness to learn more advanced techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist Traffic Safety and Traffic Operations professionals as needed.
• Analyze vehicular and vulnerable road user crash data.
• Support development of design or operational ideas and solutions.
• Assist in preparation of studies, sketches, diagrams, and working drawings.

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, self-driven, motivated-to-learn Traffic/Safety Engineering Intern for employment in the Raleigh, NC office. Imagine working on rewarding traffic/safety engineering projects within a diverse culture. You’ll receive exceptional training and mentoring from our dynamic team of transportation engineering professionals.

Working with project managers and lead engineers, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Assist Traffic Safety and Traffic Operations professionals as needed.
• Research and analyze vehicular and vulnerable road user (pedestrian, bicyclist, personal conveyance device user, or worker in a work zone) crash data.
• Provide analysis to support development of design or operational ideas and solutions.
• Develop an awareness of standard engineering practices, techniques, and procedures.
• Assist in preparation of studies, conceptual designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings and working drawings.
• Communicate and collaborate in a team environment and adapt to dynamic project needs.
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Must have completed one year of study.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and basic data science concepts.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word and willingness to learn advanced techniques.
