The State Highway Administration's (SHA) District 6 (Allegany, Garrett, and Washington County) is recruiting for a Traffic Engineer (Transportation Engineer II). This position is open to candidates meeting the minimum and selective qualifications listed below. All eligible candidates must meet these qualifications by the closing date. This is a position-specific recruitment, and the resulting list will be used solely for this vacancy. Reapplication is required for future recruitments for this classification.
This Traffic Engineer role involves project reviews, traffic engineering studies, and developing Work Zone Traffic Control Plans. Daily contact with the public, district staff, contractors, and other agencies is expected to ensure roadway safety and operation in District 6. Supervision is provided by the District 6 Traffic Team Leader or Senior Traffic Engineer.

Note: Additional engineering experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis. A master's degree can substitute for one year of experience. Licensed Professional Engineers in Maryland or comparable states are considered to meet education requirements.
