Job summary

Jobtailor in Austin, TX is seeking a Civil Engineer with a BSCE and EIT to support traffic engineering projects under the guidance of a licensed professional engineer.

You will assist in design, plans, drawings, signal timing, ITS planning, ADA ramp design, and the preparation of reports, while coordinating tasks and developing essential skills.

Qualifications

• BSCE required; EIT certification in Texas or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Internship or engineering experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of civil/transportation/traffic engineering concepts.

Responsibilities

• Use knowledge of civil, transportation, and traffic engineering concepts to support projects.
• Assist in development and design of traffic engineering projects.
• Assist in preparing project plans and drawings for highway and roadway traffic projects.
• Perform traffic signal designs, signal timing, ITS planning and design, signing and pavement marking, illumination, roadway, sidewalk, and ADA ramp planning and design.
• Assist in preparing plans and reports under the guidance of a licensed professional engineer.
• Coordinate technical activities on assigned projects and ensure task completion.
• Interpret drawings, codes, and similar materials.

• Use knowledge of the general concepts of civil, transportation, and traffic engineering
• Assist in the development and design of traffic engineering projects
• Assist in preparing project plans and drawings for various highway and roadway traffic projects
• Perform traffic signal designs, signal timing, ITS planning and design, signing and pavement marking, illumination, roadway, sidewalk, and ADA ramp planning and design, and other related traffic/transportation engineering work
• Assist in the preparation of plans and reports for relevant project design elements under the guidance and supervision of a licensed professional engineer.
• Responsible for preparing and coordinating technical activities on assigned projects
• Conduct basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) minimum
• EIT certification in Texas or ability to obtain within 6 months is required
• Internship or engineering experience is a plus
• Basic experience using Microstation, AutoCAD and any other relevant design software; Experience with OpenRoads Designer is preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite
• Developing organizational skills and understanding of task assignment and schedule; Experience handling multiple tasks and deadlines
• Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting
• Ability to create and interpret sketches, drawings, and various exhibits
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
