Job summary

Horrocks in Utah seeks a skilled mid-level Traffic Engineer with 4+ years of experience in MOT, signing and pavement markings to support planning, design and delivery of transportation projects in our community.

You'll work closely with senior engineers, project managers and clients to deliver thoughtful traffic design solutions that enhance safety and mobility, while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with a multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.
Professional Engineering (PE) licensure.
4 - 8 years experience in traffic engineering design with a focus on signing and MOT.
Knowledge and experience with Bentley ProjectWise, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, SignCAD.
Hands-on experience with Synchro/SimTraffic, Vistro, and/or Vissim preferred.
Experience in roadway design is preferred.
Experience with DOT’s plan preparation procedures and standards.
Experience and understanding of local, regional, state, and federal design criteria.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills.
Self-motivated with solid organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to interact and work cooperatively with client and multi-disciplinary team members.
A desire to grow personally and professionally with each project while working in a team environment to create designs and drawings supporting our client’s overall project goals

Responsibilities

Analyze, design, and prepare plan sheets for signing, striping, and MOT/traffic control on interstates and highways.
Prepare clear studies, technical reports, construction plans, specifications, and estimates from start to finish with minimal oversight.
Function as a technical specialist on small to mid-size projects.
Coordinate and lead traffic discussions with the project team, clients, and stakeholders.
Coordinate and work within a team of project managers, design engineers, technicians, and support staff to complete transportation projects.
Assist in managing assignments, workloads, and mentoring traffic group staff.
Assist coordination with other managers to share resources.
