Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering required.
• EIT (FE passed) or PE license in Idaho required.
• Minimum of three years of transportation engineering experience.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills.
• Interest in traffic analysis and traffic design.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and analyze freeways, interstates, interchanges, and urban/rural roadways under supervision.
• Prepare transportation studies, memos, reports, plans, specs, and cost estimates.
• Produce deliverables including memoranda, design plans and reports.
• Design traffic signals, illumination, signing and pavement markings.
• Develop maintenance of traffic and traffic control plans.
• Apply MUTCD, DOT, and local standards to create compliant designs.
• Coordinate design elements with roadway, drainage, utilities, structures, and ROW disciplines.
• Support the Project Manager in maintaining scope, budget, schedule, and quality objectives.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers as appropriate.
• Maintain organized project files per company standards.

As a Traffic Engineer – EIT or PE, you will be responsible for a variety of projects, taking ownership from start to finish.

Job Description

• Perform the planning, traffic design, and traffic analysis of freeways, interstate highways, interchanges, urban and rural roadways under the direction of a Project Manager and/or Senior Traffic Engineer
• Prepare and contribute to transportation studies, technical memoranda, reports, plans, specifications, and engineer’s cost estimates for a variety of transportation projects
• Produce project deliverables including technical memoranda, design plans and specifications, and technical reports
• Design traffic signals, illumination, signing and pavement marking improvements for urban streets, rural highways and interstates
• Develop maintenance of traffic and traffic control plans
• Apply MUTCD, DOT, and local agency standards to develop accurate, constructible, and compliant traffic designs
• Coordinate traffic design elements with roadway, drainage, utilities, structures, and right-of-way disciplines to support integrated project delivery
• Support the Project Manager in maintaining project scope, budget, schedule, and quality objectives
• Take responsibility for assigned design tasks and work packages, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards
• Participate in internal quality control reviews and incorporate QA/QC comments into final deliverables
• Provide technical input and mentoring support to junior engineers and designers as appropriate
• Identify design challenges early and communicate potential impacts to the Project Manager and/or Senior Roadway Engineer
• Maintain organized project files and documentation in accordance with company standards
• Interface effectively with coworkers across disciplines to promote collaboration and project success
• Demonstrate professionalism in communications with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders
• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
• Interest in both Traffic Analysis and Traffic Design
• EIT (passing FE exam required) or a Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Idaho
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in transportation engineering with ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Idaho within one year of hire
• Experience working with any of the following: ITD, LHTAC, ACHD, City of Caldwell, the City of Nampa and other Local Agencies within the Treasure Valley
• Proven experience collaborating on multidisciplinary project teams
• Working knowledge of ITD and/or ISPWC standards and plan development procedures
• ITS design experience is a plus
• Solid written and oral communication skills
• Self-motivated, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency with MS Office applications
• Demonstrated desire for continued personal and professional growth through project-based experience
