Fishbeck is actively seeking a talented and motivated Traffic Engineer for employment in our Dayton, OH office. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work and grow alongside some of the best technical professionals in the state on projects that will impact local communities for generations. This position will provide the candidate the opportunity to work on exciting projects, lead new projects, and grow along with the Ohio transportation team. This position will allow the candidate future advancement and long-term growth.



Primary Functions


  • Lead and work on technical design and plan production efforts for transportation projects for ODOT and local agencies.

  • Work on traffic impact studies, safety studies, signal optimization, and traffic forecasting for a variety of clients.

  • Interact with clients, local agencies, other consulting companies, and contractors.

  • Lead design best practice procedures

  • Lead and prepare quantities and construction cost estimates for projects.

  • Assist in developing project schedules and budgets

  • Assist in developing marketing and technical proposals

  • Work closely with other technical staff and with peers in the industry to provide consulting engineering services, primarily for ODOT and local agencies.

  • Assist with traffic tasks in conjunction with other staff in MI, OH, and IN offices.




Minimum Physical Requirements

Occasionally exposed to light lifting, sitting, and walking. Will perform duties in the field and will be required to access and maneuver around project sites and use a computer. Capable of traveling to and from project or client sites is required. Ability to use equipment for communication and documentation purposes. Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.

  • 0 to 4+ years experience in related traffic engineering position working with ODOT, local agencies, or development clients.

  • PE license desired.

  • Working knowledge in MicroStation/ORD software or AutoCAD/ Civil 3D software.

  • Experience with Highway Capacity Software, Synchro, and other design software.

  • Experience with design of traffic control devices and maintenance of traffic plans.

  • Roundabout and RCUT design experience is a plus.

  • Excellent computer and communication skills are required.
