Keystone Consulting Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Traffic Engineer to join our Allentown-based team. You will support municipal and private transportation projects, including traffic studies, safety analyses, and signal design.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Three or more years of relevant traffic or transportation engineering experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred; Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain one is a plus.
  • Proficiency with traffic analysis software such as Synchro, HCS, Vissim, or similar programs.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct traffic impact studies, safety analyses, capacity analyses, and traffic flow evaluations for municipal and private-sector projects.
  • Prepare technical reports, plans, specifications, and supporting documentation for highway and traffic engineering projects.
  • Evaluate traffic signals, signing, pavement markings, parking restrictions, sight distance, and speed limits.
  • Perform traffic operations analyses using Synchro, HCS, Vissim, or similar software.
  • Develop and evaluate traffic signal designs, warrant studies, and signal timing plans.
  • Conduct field investigations and site visits to collect data and confirm existing conditions.
  • Prepare traffic control plans, construction cost estimates, proposals, and project schedules assigned.
  • Participate in client, municipal, agency, and public meetings and help address technical or community concerns.

We are looking for a Traffic Engineer to join our Allentown team. In this role, you will contribute to a variety of municipal and private-sector transportation projects, including traffic impact studies, safety and operational analyses, traffic signal design and timing, signing, pavement markings, and traffic control plans.

What You Will Do

As a Traffic Engineer on our team, you will help develop practical, data-informed transportation solutions while supporting the quality and responsiveness our clients expect.



  • Conduct traffic impact studies, safety analyses, capacity analyses, and traffic flow evaluations for municipal and private-sector projects.

  • Prepare technical reports, plans, specifications, and supporting documentation for highway and traffic engineering projects.

  • Coordinate with civil engineers, surveyors, inspectors, planners, and other members of the project team.

  • Support projects through review, approval, bidding, and construction as assigned.


What You Bring

We are looking for someone who combines solid traffic engineering experience with analytical thinking, attention to detail, practical problem-solving skills, and a collaborative approach.



  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.

  • Three or more years of relevant traffic or transportation engineering experience.

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred; Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania or the ability to obtain one is a plus.

  • Proficiency with traffic analysis software such as Synchro, HCS, Vissim, or similar programs.

  • Familiarity with applicable local, state, and federal transportation standards and regulations.

  • Ability to work effectively in both field and office settings and travel locally as project needs require.

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate project documentation.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Sound judgment, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset.

This position is based out of our Allentown, PA office. Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the office or be willing to relocate prior to their start date.
