Birmingham, AL | Full-time | Transportation | 1 Position Available

Safer roads, shorter commute times, and informed drivers—at Sain Associates, we believe transportation planning and design can positively impact the communities we serve. If you want to make a lasting change in your community, join our Traffic Engineering & Planning discipline as an entry-level Traffic Engineer in our Birmingham office.

On a typical day, you might collaborate with your Project Manager to design a new traffic signal, conduct a traffic impact study, or attend a public meeting to educate your community on a project. This position is ideal for someone passionate about roadway safety and ensuring equitable transportation access for all road users. Responsibilities include data analysis, writing technical reports, collecting field observations, and traveling to job sites.

Must Haves
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
  • EI Certification (or pursuing)
  • 0-4 years of experience
  • Understanding of traffic operations and conceptual geometric design
  • Knowledge of the Access Management Manual, MUTCD, Highway Safety Manual, and Trip Manual
  • CADD experience, preferably MicroStation
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English
  • Valid Driver's License
Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience with Synchro or capacity analysis software like HCS
