Job summary

HDR is seeking a Traffic Design Coordinator to join a dedicated traffic team in Fort Worth, TX, working under the Project Engineer/Manager on forecasting, analysis and design tasks for transportation projects.

You will use CAD platforms (MicroStation, AutoCAD, Guide Sign) and modeling tools (Synchro/Sim Traffic, HCS, VISSIM, Aimsun) to analyze operations and support ITS and safety design.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a traffic team under the direction of the Project Engineer/Manager on traffic forecasting, analysis and design needs for transportation projects.
• Conduct operational traffic analysis using modeling tools, from highway capacity software to micro-simulation models.
• Focus on traffic design, including signing, striping, signals, ITS, and real-time traffic information.
• Conduct traffic design using CAD platforms including MicroStation, AutoCAD and Guide Sign software.
• Conduct operational analysis using tools such as HCS, Synchro, VISSIM and Aimsun.
• Perform safety analyses using Highway Safety Software; perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Traffic Design Coordinator, we'll count on you to:

• Work as part of a traffic team under the direction of the Project Engineer/Manager on a variety of traffic forecasting, analysis and design needs for a variety of transportation projects
• Conduct operational traffic analysis using a variety of modeling tools, ranging from highway capacity software to complex micro simulation models; analyze everything from isolated intersections and roundabouts to urban arterials and freeway segments
• Focus on traffic design, including accident analysis and mitigation strategies, signing, striping, traffic signals, lighting, and Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS), including real-time traffic information, adaptive signal control, closed circuit television (CCTV), and variable message signs (VMS)
• Conduct traffic design using CAD platforms including MicroStation, autoCad and Guide Sign software
• Conduct operational analysis using a variety of analysis and modeling tools specific to support job duties, including HCS, Synchro, VISSIM and Aimsun
• Conduct safety analysis using a variety of safety software tools including Highway Safety Software
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Candidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
• Computer skills using Microsoft Office, Synchro/Sim Traffic, HCS, AutoCAD and MicroStation
