Job summary

W D Wright Contracting Inc in Kokomo, IN is seeking an entry-level Traffic Controller to join our construction teams. This full-time role requires no prior experience and starts at $15/hour.

You will participate in on-the-job training with promotion opportunities, and earn overtime pay while helping keep work zones safe and clear. Candidates must become certified in basic traffic safety techniques through a company-provided training class.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a smartphone with internet access for timekeeping and communication to receive work schedule.
• Be able to work in all weather conditions and tolerate varying climates of heat, cold, and rain.
• Pass a drug screen prior to employment and maintain a drug free status.
• Be able to stand throughout your entire shift, hand and arm movement is required.
• The position does not allow for frequent breaks.
• Be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Be physically capable of performing all flagging duties.
• Have reliable transportation to and from job sites.

Responsibilities

• Setup, maintain, and remove temporary work zones including warning signs, traffic cones, and rumble strips according to ATSSA and DOT regulations
• Load and unload work zone equipment to and from the company vehicle at the job site
• Complete and submit all necessary paperwork in a timely manner before leaving the last job site
• Wear and maintain proper PPE in accordance with Wright specific policy
• Ensure that company vehicles are kept clean and orderly and inform management of any safety concerns or vehicle problems
• Review start time and address of job site or meeting location (if applicable) as established and sent by office scheduler via company app
• Read and understand Wright safety manual and employee handbook
• Reports directly to a Field Supervisor
• Other job duties as assigned
