Responsibilities

The Traffic Control Technician helps control vehicular movement through construction sites by performing the following duties:

  • Maintain a focus on safety in all job functions.
  • Distribute traffic control signs and markers as per designated patterns.
  • Set up, maintain, and tear down work zones, meeting or exceeding expectations.
  • Lift, carry, and place traffic cones and signs to ensure safety.
  • Keep equipment organized and in working order.
  • Develop knowledge of work zone setup and flagging responsibilities, sharing expertise with teammates.
  • Direct traffic using signals, signs, and hand gestures.
  • Warn workers and drivers of approaching vehicles to prevent accidents.
  • Inform drivers of detour routes.
  • Record license numbers of traffic violations.
  • Manage last vehicle in line signals for reverse flow.
  • Write and review incident reports for on-site issues.
Qualifications

Skills and Experience:

  • Valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
  • At least 1 year of experience.
  • Knowledge of federal and state work zone safety regulations.
  • Understanding of MUTCD guidelines and traffic control devices.
  • Experience in traffic control flagging (minimum 500 hours).
  • Basic knowledge of construction sites.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays if needed.
