Job summary

King Asphalt, Inc. is seeking a diligent individual to assist with traffic control across varied department trades, including pipe and curb operations. The role requires installing, maintaining, and inspecting work zone devices, plus training team members on flagging tasks.

The candidate should have flagger experience, ATSSA certification or equivalent, and the ability to read instructions, work in all weather, and communicate clearly with supervisors and crews on site.

Responsibilities

• Perform work zone traffic control activities as needed and required.
• Develop and execute an effective and compliant traffic control plan with project management, including individual work activities, to meet project goals.
• Conduct daily and routine work zone traffic control inspections.
• Responsible for training and development of workers who perform work zone traffic control tasks.
• Operate pickups and/or flatbed trucks, and use miscellaneous hand tools.
• Work from ladders, lifts, scaffolds to install, maintain or repair traffic control devices.
• Load and unload trucks and haul and lift materials.
• Complete required paperwork in a timely manner while assuring accuracy.
• Ensure proper handling, storage and inventory of work zone traffic control equipment and materials.
• Ensure tasks are completed in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations.
• Communicate problems or concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Perform additional duties as required by supervisor or manager.

PURPOSE:

To assist in the preparatory and laborious work associated with the different departmental trades; pipe, asphalt, grading, curb and gutter, structures, traffic control, etc.

JOB DUTIES:

Perform work zone traffic control activities as needed and required. Conduct daily and routine work zone traffic control inspections as required. Responsible for training and development of workers who perform work zone traffic control tasks. Required to operate pickups and/or flatbed trucks, and miscellaneous hand tools. Work from ladders, lifts, scaffolds, as necessary, to install, maintain or repair traffic control devices. Must also be able to load and unload trucks and haul and lift materials. Complete required paperwork in a timely manner while assuring accuracy. Assures the proper handling, storage and inventory of work zone traffic control equipment and materials for the duration of the project. Ensure that required tasks are completed in accordance with all applicable company, local, state and federal rules and regulations. Effectively communicate any problems or concerns to appropriate personnel. Perform additional duties as required or directed by their immediate supervisor or other manager.

KNOWLEDGE

Most general construction working positions do not require any specific background or knowledge, however the ability to read, writing, add, and subtract of whole numbers increases the opportunity to be upgraded or trained in other skills in the company that do require such knowledge. Certification through the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) or equivalent recognized authority. Certification can be obtained at On Boarding. Proven experience working as a flagger. Sound knowledge of state traffic regulations. The ability to stand for extended periods. The ability to work as part of a team.
