Job summary

Bernalillo County is hiring a Traffic Technician in the Public Works - Operations & Maintenance division. You will install, manufacture, and place traffic control devices, inspect pavement markings, maintain sign inventory, and assist in traffic control studies to support safe county roadways.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and two years of related experience. Must obtain ATSSA or IMSA certification within nine months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two (2) years of related experience required.
• Equivalent combination of education/experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Performs barricading inspection in Bernalillo County unincorporated areas.
• Maintains traffic sign inventory and inspects signs regularly.
• Installs permanent and temporary traffic control signage and pavement markings.
• Places barricades and assists in manufacturing of traffic control signage.
• Identifies hazardous traffic conditions and reports for corrective action.
