Job summary

The City of Madison is seeking a Traffic Control Maintenance Worker to install and repair traffic signs and markings, set up work zones, and support events. This role emphasizes safety, reliability, and public service while contributing to street safety and flow for Madison residents.

Two vacancies are available with a Monday–Friday schedule. A valid Wisconsin CDL with air brake and DOT testing prerequisites are required.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in public works equipment maintenance.
• Experience with computers software applicable to duties.
• Familiarity with work zone safety and hazards.
• Ability to work in varied weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain traffic and parking signs and associated traffic control equipment.
• Install and maintain painted street markings and semi-permanent markings.
• Install and remove barricades for parades, events, and emergencies.
• Provide general direction and training to hourly/seasonal employees.
• Complete daily work orders and support traffic control for special events.
