A rapidly growing organization in the traffic management industry is seeking an experienced Traffic Control Manager to lead business development, operations, and client relationship efforts within the region.
This role is ideal for a highly connected industry professional with a proven network of relationships across local municipalities, general contractors, and traffic-related vendors. The successful candidate will leverage these relationships to identify opportunities, drive revenue growth, secure projects, and oversee successful traffic control operations.

Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Relationship Management
- Leverage existing relationships with road and highway contractors, utility contractors, commercial contractors, developers, engineering firms, and companies to identify and secure new business opportunities.
- Has current partnerships with city, county, and state agencies involved in roadway, infrastructure, and utility projects.
- Has current relationships with key decision-makers, project managers, procurement personnel, estimators, and field supervisors.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for strategic clients and industry partners.
- Identify upcoming projects, bid opportunities, and market trends to support company growth objectives.
Operations & Project Management
- 5+ years of management experience in traffic control, roadway construction, transportation, traffic maintenance, or a related industry.
- Oversee the planning, scheduling, deployment, and execution of traffic control projects.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local traffic control regulations and safety standards.
- Coordinate with field personnel, project managers, contractors, and public agencies to ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor project performance, budgets, resource allocation, and operational efficiency.
- Resolve project issues proactively while maintaining strong customer relationships.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, DOT, MUTCD, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct safety meetings, training sessions, and incident reviews.
- Promote and enforce a safety-first culture throughout all operations.
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop field and office personnel.
- Lead a team responsible for traffic maintenance and work zone traffic control operations.
- Establish performance expectations and accountability measures.
- Conduct employee evaluations, coaching, and professional development.
- Foster a positive safety-focused culture throughout the organization.
Branch Leadership & Operations
- Establish, manage, and grow a new traffic control branch location.
- Oversee daily operations, scheduling, project coordination, and resource allocation.
- Develop and implement operational processes that improve efficiency, safety, and profitability.
- Ensure all projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
- Manage branch financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and profitability.
Required Qualifications
- ATSSA certifications and other industry standard credentials
- Well-established relationships with:
- Local and regional contractors
- Municipalities and public agencies
- Utility providers
- Engineering and consulting firms
- Construction and infrastructure vendors
- Demonstrated success managing traffic control operations, project teams, or construction support services.
- Proven track record of business development and revenue generation through industry relationships.
- Strong understanding of traffic control regulations, work zone safety standards, and construction project coordination.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Knowledge of state DOT requirements and permitting processes.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing network of contacts within the local construction, infrastructure, utility, and public works sectors.
- Experience working with DOT, municipal public works departments, utility contractors, and large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Background in estimating, project management, or operations management.
- Experience reviewing project plans, specifications, and traffic control requirements.
