Job summary

AWP Safety is seeking an entry-level Protector to join our traffic management team in Harrisburg. You will set up cones, signs, and barricades, guide traffic with a stop/slow paddle, and monitor site activity while following all safety rules.

No experience or degree is required; we provide training and safety certification. Expect outdoor work in all weather with potential nights or weekends shift changes, and opportunities for advancement within the union framework.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Must be able to stand, walk, and work outside for long periods.
• Must be able to lift 40–50 pounds.
• Willingness to work in traffic and changing weather conditions.
• Flexible schedule; report on time for every shift.
• Must pass pre-hire screening including a drug test for safety.
• Stay alert around moving traffic and follow safety rules at all times.
• Treat coworkers, clients and the public with respect.

Responsibilities

Your daily work includes:

Setting up cones, signs, and barricadesand taking traffic control equipment down

Using a stop/slow paddle to guide traffic, watching traffic and job site activity

Following all safety rules taught in training

Communicating with your crew and supervisor

Helping keep vehicles and equipment clean and safe

Working outside all year, in all weather

Shifts may change based on job needs:Some nights, weekends, or emergency work may berequired

You may stand or walk8 to 12 hours per shift

We give you a hard hat, safety goggles, a safety vest, safety whistle, walkie talkie, and cold/hot weather gear: you bring your own steel toe safetyboots that go above the ankle.
