Job summary

AWP Safety is hiring a Protector to work at job sites. No experience or degree is required. We train you, support you, and help you build a career in traffic safety.

Your daily tasks include setting up traffic control equipment, guiding traffic with a stop/slow paddle, and following safety rules learned in training. You will work outdoors, year-round, with shifts possibly including nights, weekends, or emergencies.

Qualifications

• No experience or degree required
• Must pass pre-hire screening, including a drug test
• Ability to stand, walk, and work outside for long periods

Responsibilities

• Using a stop/slow paddle to guide traffic and monitor job site activity
• Following all safety rules taught in training
• Communicating with your crew and supervisor
• Helping keep vehicles and equipment clean and safe
• Working outside all year, in all weather
• Shifts may change; some nights, weekends, or emergency work may be required
• You may stand or walk 8 to 12 hours per shift
• Gear provided: hard hat, safety goggles, vest, whistle, walkie talkie, weather gear; bring boots

Your daily work includes:

• Using a stop/slow paddle to guide traffic, watching traffic and job site activity


• Following all safety rules taught in training


• Communicating with your crew and supervisor


• Helping keep vehicles and equipment clean and safe


• Working outside all year, in all weather


• Shifts may change based on job needs: Some nights, weekends, or emergency work may be required


• You may stand or walk8 to 12 hours per shift


• We give you a hard hat, safety goggles, a safety vest, safety whistle, walkie talkie, and cold/hot weather gear: you bring your own steel toe safety boots that go above the ankle.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license


• Able to stand, walk, and work outside for long periods


• Able to lift 40-50 pounds


• Willing to work in traffic and changing weather


• Flexible schedule; Show up on time, every shift


• Must pass pre-hire screening, including a drug test (this is a safety sensitive job)


• Stay alert around moving traffic and follow all safety rules all the time


• Treat coworkers, clients, and the public with respect

Additional Information

Pay:

• Pay: $19.50- $20.25 per hour


• Overtime available


• Pay increases in your first year
