Helix Traffic Solutions, LLC is seeking a Traffic Control Apprentice to manage traffic flow around construction zones, ensuring safety for workers, motorists, and pedestrians. The role offers paid training and a front-line safety position with opportunities for advancement within PSG’s traffic services network across NC/SC.

The position requires endurance for outdoor work, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and a commitment to safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Outdoor work environment in varied weather conditions.
• Able to stand/walk 8+ hours; lift up to 50 lbs.
• Learn and follow traffic control procedures and safety regulations.
• Communicate instructions clearly and professionally.
• Work reliably with team and supervisors.
• Stay focused near roadways and moving traffic.
• Report to job sites on time and follow schedules.
• Pre-employment drug screening required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Traffic Control/Flagger Certification provided by the company; prior experience not required.

Responsibilities

• Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic around work zones using signs, paddles, or flags.
• Set up, maintain, and remove temporary traffic control work zones (signs, barricades, cones).
• Communicate with drivers to guide traffic and ensure safe flow.
• Monitor traffic and construction activity for safety hazards.
• Coordinate with supervisors and team using hand signals or radios.
• Adhere to safety protocols and wear PPE.
• Assist with loading/unloading traffic control equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
