Job summary

American Flagging, a Helix Traffic Solutions Company, is seeking dependable Traffic Control Apprentices to support Vermont worksites. You will help maintain safe traffic flow around construction zones and other active work areas.

No experience required; paid training and flagger certification provided. This is a physically active outdoor role with full-time and part-time opportunities, weekly pay, overtime, and year-round work.

Responsibilities

• Direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic through active work zones.
• Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control signs and barriers.

• Coordinate with crew and supervisors to maintain flow.
• Follow safety procedures and wear PPE.
• Assist with loading/unloading traffic control equipment.

Position Overview

American Flagging is seeking dependable, safety-conscious individuals to join our team as Traffic Control Apprentices throughout Vermont.

In this role, you will help maintain safe traffic flow around construction zones, roadway maintenance projects, and other active work areas.

No experience required! Paid training and flagger certification provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic safely through active work zones.
• Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control signs, cones, and barricades.
• Monitor traffic conditions and communicate potential safety hazards.
• Coordinate with crew members and supervisors to maintain safe traffic flow.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assist with loading and unloading traffic control equipment.

Minimum Requirements

• Valid driver's license required.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be willing to complete a pre-employment drug screening.
• Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours) while working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow, when conditions are deemed safe for operations.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to travel to assigned job sites throughout Vermont.

• Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous construction or traffic control experience is a plus but not required.

Work Schedule & Environment

This is a physically active, outdoor position involving work near moving traffic and construction equipment. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available, with year-round work, overtime opportunities, and weekends as needed based on operational requirements.
