Overview

THE ROLE

The position: The Traffic Associate is responsible for daily production verification, production status reports, outbound trailer entry, and trailer set up. Completes bill of lading upon receipt of releases for carriers.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Daily production: Verifying information entered by production into JD Edwards daily for reports used throughout the company including status reports.

  • Outbound trailers: information received from the guard containing trailers that were picked up by drivers verified and corrected, if necessary, in JD Edwards daily reports used throughout the company.

  • Trailer set up: information received mainly from the Chicago office and occasionally directly from the customer with direction on drivers/companies picking up trailers entered JD Edwards daily. Paperwork is printed at the plant and given to the guard on duty for shipping trailers.

  • Outbound trailer report: verify totals on report vs actual. Works with Quality and Production Departments to ensure trailer can be released and shipped.

  • Reporting: Update excel daily completion reports, actual units up/off reports, trailers on hold, yard report, manufacturing reports.

  • Set up trailers for shipping: ensure forms are completed accurately.

  • Trailer tracking entry: information received from the production lines with information relating to specific trailers entered JD Edwards daily for reports used throughout the company. Some of the information for certain customers is also entered onto spreadsheets to be sent directly to the customer at their request.

  • Communicates daily with gate guards to release trailers to third party drivers based on orders received.

  • Troubleshoots trailer pickup errors when wrong trailer is released.

  • Provide copies of documents to carrier in the event of loss of original documentation.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

YOUR SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Education & Experience

    • Prior work experience with regards to being an Administrative Assistant or in a fast paced or demanding environment as well as classroom instruction on Microsoft programs should be considered necessary for this position.

  • Skills

    • Good communication skills and professionalism are a plus when dealing with peers, customers, and sales personnel in the office, on the phone or via e-mail.

    • The ability to multi-task and meet time requirements while addressing additional requests in a timely manner is necessary to succeed in this position.

    • Fluent typing and 10-key skills a must as well as knowledge with Microsoft Office programs to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. and the ability to learn company specific software.

    • Use of office machines such as phones, fax, copiers, and scanners.
