Job summary

Hansen Wheel & Wagon Shop is seeking a skilled Wainwright/Upholsterer to build and restore authentic horse-drawn vehicles using traditional woodworking, joinery, and upholstery techniques. Projects include Stagecoaches, Hitch Wagons, Sheep Wagons, and Cannon Carriages, offering unique challenges and opportunities to grow within a craft that few still practice today.

You will interpret drawings and historical references, hand-fit components, and work with a close-knit team to preserve history

Qualifications

Strong woodworking skills and experience with woodworking equipment and hand tools.
Upholstery experience or a willingness to learn traditional vehicle upholstery techniques.
The ability to interpret drawings, plans, reference photos, and historical examples.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to hand-fit custom components.
A passion for craftsmanship, attention to detail, and pride in producing exceptional work.

Responsibilities

Build and restore authentic horse-drawn vehicles using traditional woodworking, joinery and upholstery techniques.
Interpret drawings, plans, reference photos, and historical examples to ensure accuracy.
