ABOUT THE ROLE

3Degrees' mission is to enable our global customers to reduce their environmental impact and achieve their renewable energy and sustainability goals. We do this by offering a full suite of climate and renewable energy products and services, including renewable energy certificates (RECs), RNG certificates, carbon credits, GHG strategy consulting, and renewable energy procurement advisory services (PPAs and VPPAs). The Environmental Markets division procures and sells these commodities to meet our customers' needs. As a member of the North America Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) team, you will focus specifically on the United States and Canada, supporting middle-office operational execution across over 55 REC markets in every power pool in the country.

This is a dedicated operations and execution role designed for someone who thrives on organization, procedural excellence, precision data management, and operational clarity. You are the operational backbone of our North American REC business, ensuring that complex environmental transactions move flawlessly from deal closure through contract execution.

This is a full-time 3Degrees Environmental Markets position located in Portland, ME and will report to the Director of North American RECs or the Head of Trading.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

This role requires a strong operational focus and meticulous execution on a fast-paced trading team, working across various departments. You will be responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of deal entry into our internal database. A key part of your work will involve cross-functional collaboration with the Contracts and Trade Operations teams to ensure transaction details are accurately reflected in our agreements with counterparties and in our internal records. Your emphasis on process adherence and workflow optimization is essential to the team's success. Your work will involve the following:

Contract Management & Execution
  • Own the end-to-end deal lifecycle, ensuring 100% accuracy in database entry, contract generation and execution, and cross-functional record reconciliation.
  • Engage with the North America REC portfolio to ensure all positions are clearly and correctly reflected in internal records.
  • Manage contracting responsibilities, ensuring timely and accurate processing of agreements with counterparties.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Work across departments to efficiently problem-solve contract issues and verify deal data.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external trading firms, ensuring alignment in deal terms and expectations.
  • Support the transition to new trading platforms and provide feedback to improve operational workflows.
Logistics & Portfolio Operations
  • Oversee inventory tracking, delivery execution, and allocation of REC supply across regional tracking systems, ensuring zero delivery friction.
  • Support Origination and Trading teams by managing operational data inputs, contract verification, and delivery logistics for incoming deals.
  • Build a functional operational understanding of renewable energy voluntary and compliance markets and related regulatory frameworks.
Process Optimization
  • Continuously refine operational workflows, documentation routines, and database inputs to eliminate error points and scale team efficiency.
ABOUT YOU

You have a strong foundation in operational execution, able to streamline processes and drive consistency. You pride yourself on your attention to detail, excel at managing daily administrative priorities, and derive genuine energy from executing complex processes accurately. In addition, you bring the following:

  • 2+ years of professional mid-office operations or trade administration experience, ideally with experience managing workflows end-to-end.
  • Experience reviewing basic legal contracts and navigating contracting processes.
  • You are energized by operational rigor, system maintenance, and administrative precision—viewing middle-office execution as a primary career path.
  • You are someone who finds professional satisfaction in clean data, seamless workflows, and taking complex transactions across the finish line with precision.
  • Proficiency in Excel at an intermediate level, with experience in data manipulation and record verification.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments with comfort handling counterparty and customer outreach.
  • Strong commitment to diversity and inclusion as a key driver to business success and demonstrated passion for our mission.
