Job summary

SubCom in Newington, NH is seeking a Tradesperson Class 2 in Material Control to manage inventory and safely move materials using heavy equipment. This role requires working with minimal supervision and flexibility to cover all areas of the facility.

Responsibilities include FIFO, lot/serial control, issuing materials, inspecting items, and maintaining accurate documentation while following safety guidelines. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • Two or more years of related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Experience with safely operating a forklift and scissor lift within manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team and possess a positive communication style.
  • Maintaining a valid driver’s license strongly preferred.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office (Excel and Outlook), ERP software and document control software; willingness to learn.
  • Math skills including basic operations in all units of measure.
  • Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing responsibilities.
  • Flexibility to respond to multiple assignments and shift work, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English fluently.

  • Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain safe work practices.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation pertaining to material handling.
  • Promote process improvements through 5S and other initiatives.
  • Respond to multiple assignments in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Overtime may be required; regular attendance expected.

Position Overview

A Tradesperson Class 2 in Material Control is responsible for understanding and adhering to basic inventory practices; use heavy equipment as necessary to ship and receive materials. This position works with minimal supervision and must be willing to work in all areas of the facility as needed.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Follows basic inventory practices such as FIFO, lot/serial control and NCM materials
  • Successfully learns and performs material issuing procedures and documentation requirements
  • Accurately store, count, weigh and inspect for damage on all materials required by production
  • Handles hazardous waste appropriately
  • Safely operates heavy equipment, such as fork lifts and scissor lifts, to maneuver, ship and receive materials, as well as legally operate a motor vehicle to complete local errands (if licensed)
  • Follows verbal and written instruction and is accountable for his/her actions
  • Follows safety guidelines (PPE, etc.) and demonstrates safe work practices
  • Maintains timely and accurate documentation pertaining to material handling
  • Promotes job and process improvement as it relates to the department (through 5S as well as other improvement initiatives)
  • Responds to multiple assignments in a timely and efficient manner
  • Overtime may be required, based on business need; regular attendance required
