Job summary

SubCom in Newington, NH seeks an OSA Production Support to perform electro-mechanical assembly of underwater repeaters in a cleanroom environment, following detailed work instructions with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to work cross-functionally, and hands-on skills with measurement tools; overtime may be required and a high school diploma plus experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two or more years of related experience and/or training strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a mechanical and electrical aptitude test.
  • Ability to read and interpret hand held measuring equipment such as a metal rule and pressure gauges.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent. Use measuring equipment including tape measures, calipers, verniers and micrometers.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise between multiple departments, including engineering, management as well as maintenance.
  • Be an active participant of the daily team meeting or Gemba walks; share findings.
  • Accurately perform detailed work with attention to detail, such as handling fiber optic cable, splicing, soldering, and electronic assembly.
  • Follows safety guidelines and demonstrates safe work practices; maintains safety record.
  • Maintains timely and accurate production checklists and other documentation.
  • Overtime may be required based on business need; regular attendance is required.

This work is in a clean room environment where attention to detail, a focus on safety and quality as well as an ability to strive for continuous improvement are crucial.Responsibilities and Duties:*Liaise between multiple departments, including engineering, management as well as maintenanceBe an active participant of the daily team meeting or Gemba walks; share your findings*Works independently and follows the current and controlled version of the work instructions*Accurately performs detailed work with extreme attention to detail, such as handling fiber optic cable, splicing cable together, soldering, as well as electronic assembly*Performs visual inspection using a variety of magnification tools, identifying errors and reports issues to appropriate personnel*Follows verbal and written instruction, accepts increased responsibility and is accountable for his/her actions*Follows safety guidelines (PPE, etc.) and demonstrates safe work practices*Maintains a good safety record, has a working knowledge of the behavioral based safety initiatives, and accepts the responsibility to communicate unsafe situations*Adheres to the safety and quality standards (goals and metrics) of the organization while working within a team environment*Maintains timely and accurate production checklists and other documentation*While interacting with customers and visitors, represents the Company in a positive manner*Supports production activities such as replenishing materials, refilling bottles with alcohol and cleaning solution, cleaning fixtures, emptying trash bins, etc.Promotes job and process improvement as it relates to the department (through 5S as well as other improvement initiatives)Provides effort in all levels of work tasks, including highly technical job functions as well as cleaning the work area as neededSuccessfully learns a variety of production processes and performs them safely and proficientlyResponds to multiple production assignments in a timely and efficient mannerOvertime may be required, based on business need; regular attendance requiredOther duties as assignedNOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
