Job summary

New York State Thruway Authority in Albany is seeking a skilled tradesperson to maintain and repair electrical systems across our facilities. You will work on pumps, generators, lighting, signs and control equipment, ensuring operations meet code and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson or equivalent training.
• Valid New York State driver’s license when required to operate motor vehicles.
• Preferred: experience with electrical systems installation, maintenance, and repair of wiring, fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.

Responsibilities

• Tests, maintains and repairs pumps, heating controls, signs, generators, switches, controllers, electrical machinery and building lighting systems.
• Installs and maintains building lighting and power distribution, emergency generators, communication systems, and other electrical systems.
• Inspects circuits and wiring for shielding and grounding; repairs or rewires per building codes and safety regulations.
• Plans layout and wires new installations and repairs wiring, fixtures, apparatus and control equipment.
• Repairs and replaces sinks, toilets, faucets and flush meters; may repair and maintain elevators.

Installs, maintains and repairs building lighting and power distribution, emergency generators, communication systems, and other electrical systems.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Non-competitive: four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.

Preferred Qualifications

Work experience in electrical systems involving the layout, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.

Additional Pay Information

The salary range for this position includes all applicable annual components of pay which are:

Base Pay: $29.51 hiring rate up to $31.95 job rate

Recruitment & Retention Pay: $3.37.
