Trade Apprentice $16.06 hourly

Electrician $19.67 hourly

Electrician Specialist $21.05 hourly

As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Trade Apprentice, Electrician, or Electrician Specialist depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). The maximum salary for the Electrician Specialist is $3,649.00.

No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.

A valid Louisiana Class “D” Chauffeur’s License is required.

A valid Louisiana Class “B” Commercial License is required to attain permanent status.

Examples of Work:

  1. Install, maintain, and repair single and three phase electrical services including step down transformers, service panels, and service connections. Maintain and repair various lighting systems including roadway lighting, decorative lighting, path lighting and landscaping lighting.
  2. Troubleshoot, install, and repair electric motors and related motors, starters, relays, and circuit breakers and controls on all of the District’s facilities including hydraulic and water pump motors, traffic gate motors, and selsyn sending and receiving units as well as roadway lighting contactors.
  3. Service, troubleshoot, and repair control boards and control circuits including electrical speed control, relays including phase failure relays, limit switches, and electrical component bypass circuits.
  4. Troubleshoot, service, and install reversing starters, under voltage relays, and multibreakers, both single and three phase.
  5. Service and repair electrical facilities and grounds in District 02 at Crescent City Connection, including generators, transformers, air conditioning units, and indoor lighting. Install conduit of all sizes and run wire in various sizes and voltage ratings in connection with electrical equipment in the District.
  6. May be required to perform other duties as necessary including, but not limited to emergency/disaster support.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

No experience or training is required.

Function of Work:
To assist a journeyman level tradesman and to learn the trade by on-the-job training or formal instruction as prescribed by the employing agency.

Level of Work:
Entry.

Supervision Received:
Close from a journeyman level tradesman or assigned instructor.

Supervision Exercised:
None.

Location of Work:
May be used by all agencies; statewide.

Job Distinctions:
Differs from other entry or basic maintenance jobs by the performance of work directly subordinate to skilled tradesmen with the goal of preparing the incumbent for journeyman level status. Differs from the journeyman level because it does not independently perform journeyman work in any trade. Assists a journeyman level Trades Job in its assigned duties. Performs limited skilled tasks under close direction of a journeyman in an on the job training program. Participates in training as prescribed by an assigned journeyman or agency policy.
