Job summary

Fish & Richardson, a premier global IP law firm, seeks a Trademark Paralegal for its Practice Systems Department in Washington, DC. You will support the trademark team with filings in the U.S.

and Madrid, coordinate with foreign associates, and handle related tasks such as copyright applications and domain registrations. The role requires 3+ years of trademark paralegal experience, familiarity with TTAB, UDRP actions, and WIPO filings.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Trademark Paralegal or equivalent.
• Familiarity with TTAB proceedings, copyright filings and UDRP actions.
• Experience with worldwide trademark laws and procedures, including WIPO filings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file documents for U.S. trademark prosecution and maintenance using ETEAS.
• Prepare and file Madrid-based filings with WIPO.

How Will You Make a Difference?

By supporting our Trademark team with

• Preparing and filing documents required in the prosecution and maintenance of U.S. trademarks, using the U.S. PTO’s ETEAS filing system.
• Preparing and filing documents required in the prosecution and maintenance of Madrid-based filings with WIPO
• Communicating with clients regarding requirements for filing applications, maintaining trademarks, and reviewing evidence of use required in connection with these trademark documents
• Corresponding directly with foreign associates on routine trademark prosecution, opposition, cancellation, and/or maintenance
• Handling or assisting on special projects as assigned, including copyright applications, customs recordation, UDRP actions, client website review and domain name registration

What Will You Bring to the Table?

• 3+ years’ experience as a Trademark Paralegal (or similar equivalent experience) with both U.S. and foreign trademark prosecution.
• Familiarity with TTAB proceedings, copyright filings and UDRP actions.
• Experience with worldwide trademark laws and procedures, including WIPO filings.
• Ability to meet the paralegal 1300 hour billing metric.
• Trained in conducting preliminary trademark searches.
• Ability to work in the office 3 days per month is required

• The pay range for this position varies by geographic market. Final compensation will be based on a variety of factors including education, experience, skills, professional background, overall qualifications, and location
  • In Chicago and Minneapolis, the estimated starting pay range is $34.87 - $43.58 per hour (based on a 37.5-hour workweek), which is equivalent to $68,000- $85,000 annually.
  • In Boston and San Diego, the estimated starting pay range is $40.10 - $50.00 per hour (based on a 35-hour workweek), which is equivalent to $73,000 - $91,000 annually.
  • In Washington, D.C., the estimated starting pay range is $40.00 - $49.74 per hour (based on a 37.5-hour workweek), which is equivalent to $78,000 - $97,000 annually.
