Job description

Scale LLP, a modern, fully distributed law firm, is seeking a midlevel associate attorney to join our growing trademark practice. This is a full‑time position supporting Scale’s trademark group and serving as a key member of our intellectual property team.

About the Role

The associate will act as a right‑hand attorney to the practice lead and will be entrusted with significant responsibility across all aspects of trademark law. The ideal candidate is confident managing matters independently, while also thriving in a collaborative environment. Work will include everything from clearance and prosecution to TTAB disputes and federal litigation.

This role provides excellent opportunities for advancement, frequent client contact, exposure to a wide variety of IP matters, and a clear pathway for growth within the firm.

Responsibilities
  • Manage U.S. and international trademark clearance, prosecution, and maintenance matters
  • Handle TTAB proceedings, including oppositions and cancellations
  • Assist with and lead aspects of federal trademark litigation
  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings and motions, and manage case strategy
  • Interface directly with clients, providing practical and business‑minded advice
  • Support growth of the practice by mentoring junior team members and helping refine systems and processes
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (Texas strongly preferred)
  • 4–7 years of trademark experience, with substantive work in TTAB matters and litigation
  • Strong writing, research, and case‑management skills
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple projects, and take ownership of client matters
  • Preference for candidates based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area
