Deringer is seeking a Trade Advisory professional to join our team and deliver expert guidance on customs matters for diverse clients. The role emphasizes research, classification work, and regulatory interpretation.

You will interact with clients and internal teams to ensure on-time project delivery, while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance. Travel up to 10% is required.

Qualifications

  • Highschool diploma or GED.
  • Willingness to obtain Customs Broker's License (US Citizenship required).
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in customs brokerage or auditing.
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
  • Experience with HTS classification, USMCA eligibility verification, PGAs and PGA requirements, and customs entry processing.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts independent Customs related research as requested by clients.
  • Completes HTS US classification projects for various products/industries.
  • Exercises independent judgment in client interactions during consulting projects.
  • Interfaces with internal/external resources to complete projects on time and to client expectations.
  • Researches and interprets government import regulations and applies them to client situations.
  • Develops solutions to complex import/export scenarios and recommends actions.
  • Ensures regulatory requirements are met when providing opinions.
  • Performs data analysis for goods across industries and liaises with government departments as needed.
  • Prioritizes and completes work per project demands and customs requirements.
  • Looks for sales opportunities and stays current with customs regulations.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Trade Advisory Group. This role works closely with our valued clients and internal colleagues to provide guidance within a prescribed timeframe.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts independent Customs related research as requested by clients.
  • Completes HTS US classification projects covering a wide range of products and industries
  • Exercises independent judgment as it relates to customer interface during consulting projects.
  • Interfaces with other internal or external resources as needed to complete the consulting project on-time and to the client's expectation(s).
  • Researches and interprets government import regulations and applies them to the clients' situations.
  • Develops solutions to complex import and export situations and recommends course of action.
  • Ensures, when opinion is provided, U.S. Government regulatory requirements are met as related to imports and exports.
  • Responsible for the analysis and interpretation of information received from clients and consultants.
  • Performs complex data analysis for goods in all industries.
  • Liaison between organization and appropriate government departments with regards to resolving client’s situation and/or project.
  • Prioritizes and completes work according to project demands, customs requirements, and standards.
  • Recognizes and takes advantage of sales opportunities.
  • Remains current with Customs regulations, procedures, and requirements along with familiarity of other federal laws and regulations affecting trade and Customs.
  • Performs and cross-trains for additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Provide support to Senior Trade Advisors on tasks and large projects.
  • Up to 10% travel required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Highschool diploma or GED

If offered the position, the successful candidate must possess or be willing and able to obtain a Customs Broker's License, which includes, among other requirements, US Citizenship

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the customs brokerage, or auditing field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
  • Binding Ruling process and submission
  • Experience with AD/CVD
  • Valuation
  • Experience with USMCA eligibility verification
  • Experience with PGAs and PGA requirements
  • HTS Classification
  • Country of Origin determination - including familiarity with Free Trade Agreements
  • Experience with Customs entry processing, particularly in a customs brokerage environment
The salary range of compensation for this position is $75,000-$95,000 based on experience and education.
