Job summary

Federal Express Corporation in Tallahassee, FL is seeking a Full-time Tractor Trailer Apprentice. The role requires driving a tractor-trailer, operating mechanized loading equipment, and participation in both sort and aircraft operations. Shifts include 3:45PM-11:30PM with TBD assignment based on local bid.

CDL and HME endorsements must be obtained within 90 days. Minimum education is a High School Diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Six months FedEx Express experience preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must obtain CDL and Hazardous Materials endorsement within 90 days.
• Ability to read/speak English sufficiently for traffic signs and inquiries.

Job description

Drives tractor-trailer vehicle to designated locations and operate mechanized loading/unloading equipment. Performs other duties as assigned. This is for one AM shift and one PM shift with assignment TBD based on local shift bid.

Station runs are required to work both sort operations and aircraft operations. Participation in both areas is mandatory.

Minimum Education

High School Diploma/GED

Minimum Experience

Six (6) months FedEx Express experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to drive manual transmission preferred. Ability to operate mechanized loading/GSE. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to maneuver packages of any weight above 50 Lbs with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person. Customer contact & package handling experience preferred. Good human relations & verbal communication skills. Neat appearance since customer contact is involved. Must be at least 21 years of age. Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety officials and to respond to official inquiries and directions in accordance with FMCSA enforcement guidance.

Job Conditions

FMCSA covered safety sensitive position. Medical exam required. Subject to regulatory alcohol & drug testing, which includes testing for marijuana, PCP, amphetamines, cocaine & opioids.
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Must obtain & maintain valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) & a hazardous materials endorsement (HME) for type of vehicle assigned within 90 days & have good driving record as outlined in policy. Neat appearance since customer contact is required.

Pay Transparency:

Pay: $23.09-$33.84
