Job summary

Federal Express Corporation in Portland, ME seeks a professional driver to operate tractor-trailer vehicles to designated locations and manage mechanized loading/unloading equipment. The role requires standing up to 21 years and CDL/HME within 90 days, with a focus on safety and efficient package handling.

You will perform other duties as assigned, maintain neat appearance due to customer contact, and work in a pay range of $25.09–$33.84 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Six months FedEx Express experience preferred.
• Ability to drive manual transmission preferred.
• Ability to operate mechanized loading/GSE.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and maneuver packages with equipment or assistance.
• Customer contact and package handling experience preferred.
• Good human relations and verbal communication skills.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Able to read and speak English sufficiently to understand traffic signs and inquiries per FMCSA guidance.

Minimum Education

Minimum Experience

Six (6) months FedEx Express experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to drive manual transmission preferred. Ability to operate mechanized loading/GSE. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to maneuver packages of any weight above 50 Lbs with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person. Customer contact & package handling experience preferred. Good human relations & verbal communication skills. Neat appearance since customer contact is involved. Must be at least 21 years of age. Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety officials and to respond to official inquiries and directions in accordance with FMCSA enforcement guidance.

Job Conditions

FMCSA covered safety sensitive position. Medical exam required. Subject to regulatory alcohol & drug testing, which includes testing for marijuana, PCP, amphetamines, cocaine & opioids.
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Must obtain & maintain valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) & a hazardous materials endorsement (HME) for type of vehicle assigned within 90 days & have good driving record as outlined in policy. Neat appearance since customer contact is required.
