Our post-collection network depends on the safe and efficient transportation of waste and other materials between transfer stations, landfills, processing facilities, and other approved disposal locations.

We are seeking an experienced Tractor-Trailer Driver to safely transport waste, recyclable materials, equipment, and other approved materials while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, regulatory compliance, and customer service.

Position Summary

The Tractor-Trailer Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of waste and other approved materials between Liberty Waste Solutions facilities and designated disposal or processing locations.

This is a hands-on driving position requiring the safe operation of tractor-trailers in a variety of environments, including transfer stations, landfills, construction and demolition facilities, public roadways, and customer locations. The driver is responsible for completing required vehicle inspections, maintaining accurate documentation, communicating equipment or operational concerns, and ensuring all loads are transported safely and in accordance with company policies and applicable DOT requirements.

The Tractor-Trailer Driver is expected to represent Liberty Waste Solutions professionally and work closely with site managers, scale house personnel, equipment operators, dispatch, maintenance personnel, and other drivers to support safe and efficient operations.

Core Responsibilities

• Safely operate tractor-trailers to transport waste, recyclable materials, equipment, and other approved materials between transfer stations, landfills, processing facilities, and other designated locations.
• Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and accurately complete all required inspection documentation.
• Identify and immediately report mechanical problems, safety concerns, vehicle damage, tire issues, hydraulic leaks, lighting problems, or other equipment deficiencies.
• Ensure tractor and trailer combinations are operated safely and within applicable weight, height, and load restrictions.
• Verify loads are properly contained, secured, tarped, and safe for transportation before leaving a facility.
• Follow all DOT regulations, company safety policies, traffic laws, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
• Maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and required medical certification at all times.
• Maintain compliance with Hours of Service requirements and accurately complete required electronic or written driver logs.
• Safely maneuver tractor-trailers in transfer stations, landfills, tipping areas, loading areas, scales, and other locations where space and traffic conditions may be limited.
• Coordinate with equipment operators during loading and unloading to ensure safe positioning of the truck and trailer.
• Remain aware of overhead hazards, uneven terrain, soft ground, slopes, equipment traffic, pedestrians, and changing site conditions.
• Follow established facility traffic patterns, speed limits, PPE requirements, and site-specific safety procedures.
• Coordinate with scale house personnel to ensure loads are properly weighed, documented, and assigned to the correct destination.
• Verify shipping documents, weight tickets, manifests, or other required paperwork are accurate and complete.
• Communicate regularly with management or dispatch regarding load status, delays, traffic conditions, equipment problems, facility issues, or changes in assigned routes.
• Complete assigned routes and loads safely and efficiently while minimizing unnecessary travel time, idle time, and delays.
• Maintain tractor and trailer cleanliness and ensure equipment presents a safe and professional appearance.
• Assist with basic equipment checks and minor operational issues when safe and appropriate, while reporting maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
• Ensure trailers are properly connected, including fifth-wheel engagement, landing gear, air lines, electrical connections, brakes, lights, and safety equipment.
• Properly couple and uncouple tractors and trailers using established safety procedures.
• Never operate equipment that is unsafe or has a condition that could create a hazard to the driver, employees, customers, or the public.
• Immediately report accidents, injuries, spills, property damage, citations, or other incidents in accordance with company procedures.
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, training, and other required company programs.
• Maintain professional and respectful communication with employees, customers, contractors, regulators, and the public.
• Maintain a clean and organized cab and properly care for company-owned vehicles and equipment.
• Support other post-collection operations and transportation needs as assigned.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of tractor-trailer driving experience preferred.
• Experience transporting waste, construction and demolition debris, recyclable materials, or other bulk materials preferred.
• Experience operating walking-floor, tipper, dump, or similar waste-industry trailers preferred.
• Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate required.
• Acceptable driving record and ability to meet company and insurance requirements.
• Working knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours of Service requirements, vehicle inspections, load securement, and commercial motor vehicle safety.
• Ability to safely maneuver tractor-trailers in confined areas, transfer stations, landfills, and other heavy industrial environments.
• Ability to properly perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and identify potential mechanical or safety concerns.
• Strong attention to safety, detail, and equipment condition.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, dispatch, scale house personnel, equipment operators, maintenance personnel, and other drivers.
• Ability to follow assigned routes, schedules, facility procedures, and management direction.
• Ability to work independently while remaining accountable for assigned equipment, loads, and responsibilities.
• Ability to work outdoors and operate in varying weather, road, and site conditions.
• Ability to safely climb in and out of tractors and trailers and perform the physical duties associated with commercial truck operation.
• Dependable attendance, punctuality, and ability to work scheduled hours, including overtime, weekends, or early start times when operationally necessary.
