Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of tractor experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • DOT, AC, and brake certifications required.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair transmissions, engines, and electrical systems.
  • Perform DOT inspections and maintain a clean work area.
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance on tractors and trailers.

Job description

Tractor Technician II
RICHLAND, MS
Sunday-Wednesday 7:00am-5:30pm

Compensation Range: $22.09 - $27.00

What You’ll Do:
  • Diagnose and repair transmissions, engines, electrical systems, suspension, driveline, HVAC, brakes, and air systems. Assistance from Tech III may be required.
  • Repair or replace bolt-on body parts such as hoods and cab extenders.
  • Perform DOT inspections as per TTMS guidelines.
  • Conduct open seat inspections to prepare tractors for the next driver.
  • Perform 90-day lease operator inspections.
  • Complete DOT and other documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and resources effectively.
  • Drive trucks in and out of the shop before and after repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area daily.
  • Work efficiently to meet productivity and SRT time standards.
  • Perform basic repairs and inspections on brakes, tires, wiring, etc.
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance on tractors and trailers.
  • Check vehicle fluids such as transmission oil, engine oil, windshield wiper fluid, and antifreeze.
  • Change vehicle tires and grease mechanical parts.
  • Move equipment in and out of the shop as needed.
  • Ensure proper attendance and punctuality to maintain department efficiency.
  • Work at TTMS sites or customer locations as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
What We’re Looking For:
Education
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience
  • 2-5 years of tractor experience preferred.
Skills/Certifications
  • DOT, AC, and brake certifications required.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Own and maintain adequate hand tools.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, climb, reach, stoop, kneel, and lift as specified.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in trailers, withstand temperature extremes.
