Job summary

Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative of Florida is seeking an experienced farm equipment operator to support sugarcane harvesting operations. You will drive tractors with or without towed equipment, load wagons safely, and assist with ramp dumping while following strict safety procedures.

Job description

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Operating tractors for sugarcane harvesting, ensuring the safe and efficient handling of loaded wagons, and navigating ramps for dumping. This role requires strict adherence to safety regulations and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Additionally, the position involves conducting daily visual and mechanical inspections of equipment and performing other related tasks as needed.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Operates farm-type tractors with or without towed equipment to perform tasks related to harvesting sugarcane.Proven capability to operate tractors with loaded wagons efficiently and safely.Safely loading wagons alongside harvesters and navigating ramps for dumping.Skilled in maneuvering tractors to ensure safety in traffic.Adheres strictly to all safety rules, regulations, or procedures, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).Perform basic daily inspections on equipment, both visual and mechanical checks.Performs other related projects and assignments as business dictates.SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Ability to be focused and be attentive for long hours.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively with co-workers.Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.Good communication skills.Bilingual preferred (Spanish).EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.1+ year of farm equipment operating experience, preferred.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Regular attendance is required during your scheduled shift, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays.Must be able to work in hot, cold, wet, humid, dusty, and foggy working conditions depending on weather.Must be able to work in all positions (overhead, kneeling, reaching, crawling & working in small workspaces) & be able to lift up to 50 pounds.COMPANY VISION:SCGC’s vision is to deliver the greatest value to our member-growers and employees by being an industry leader in all we do.
