Job description

This position is located in Germantown, Maryland

The hourly rate is $24.65

The core working hours are 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday.

This is a non-exempt position. Employees are eligible for overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 hours in a standard work week should it be necessary.

This position requires that the employee must successfully complete criminal history information background checks and drug screening.

Introduction:

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, performs mowing and tractor tasks necessary to meet contract specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Uses full-size tractors, including front-end loaders, riding mowers, and broadcast spreaders.
  2. Uses tractor-mounted skid steer spreader to apply lime, fertilizer, grass seed, herbicides, and pesticides.
  3. Performs large-scale mowing of the assigned work area.
  4. Reports any abnormalities in trees, shrubs, and grass.
  5. Performs basic maintenance and cleaning of all tractors and attachments.
  6. Reports any repairs or maintenance needed for tractors.
  7. Plows snow as needed.
  8. Follows all safety procedures.
  9. Maintains lawn in conformance with contract specifications.
  10. Performs other landscape-related tasks as needed.
Physical Qualifications:

The incumbent must be able to stand/walk 50% of the work time and sit 50%. Must be able to lift/carry/push/pull 100 pounds, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and handle to load/unload materials and equipment, maintain tractor repairs, and perform grounds tasks including planting and cutting trees. Must be alert to safety hazards and able to communicate effectively with workers and supervisors. Good vision and ability to differentiate colors are required.

Mainly work outside under conditions that may include extreme temperatures, weather, dust, dirt, fumes, or flying objects (grass).

Qualifications:

One to two years of tractor experience, preferably grounds-related. Prior experience with individuals with differing abilities and/or some supervisory experience is desired. One or two years of general landscape experience with some familiarity with pesticides is desirable. Must have a clean driving record.
