Tractor Operator – Residential Snow Removal
Grand Forks Snow Removal
Grand Forks, ND & East Grand Forks, MN

We’re hiring dependable tractor operators for the upcoming snow season!

You’ll operate a John Deere tractor equipped with a snowblower to clear residential driveways, driving directly from house to house. Our custom GPS navigation system guides you through your assigned route and provides customer property instructions.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a John Deere tractor and snowblower, traveling between customer properties along your GPS-guided route.
• Thoroughly clear driveways while protecting garage doors, vehicles, landscaping, and other property.
• Return to properties to correct missed areas or other service mistakes as needed.
• Make additional passes through the route to remove ridges left across driveway entrances by city snowplows. These return visits are a regular part of the job.
• Perform basic equipment maintenance, including greasing designated fittings, checking tire pressure, and replacing broken snowblower shear bolts in the field using proper safety procedures.
• Monitor diesel fuel levels and refuel when necessary using a company-issued fuel card. Keep the card secure and use it only for authorized company purchases.
• Keep the tractor cab clean, organized, and free of trash.
• Promptly report equipment problems, accidents, or property damage.
• Communicate with your supervisor about route progress, delays, and return visits.
• Complete assigned work with consistent attention to quality and safety.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation to work.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality throughout the snow season.
• Availability during snow events, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to safely operate equipment in snowy and icy conditions.
• Willingness and ability to perform basic maintenance and field repairs.
• Comfort using a phone or tablet for GPS navigation.
• Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and responsibly handle company equipment and a fuel card.

Tractor or snow removal experience is preferred.

Schedule & Pay

This is a seasonal, weather-dependent position. Start times and shift lengths vary with snowfall, route conditions, and required return visits. Work includes initial driveway clearing, correcting service mistakes, and additional route passes to clear city plow ridges.

Hourly pay: $25-30, depending on experience.

Customer Tips: Any tips customers give you are yours to keep, in addition to your hourly pay and eligible end-of-season bonuses.

Two End-of-Season Bonuses

• Season Reliability Bonus — $500: Earned by employees who stay through the end of the season, consistently show up and arrive on time for assigned shifts, and complete their assigned work, including required return visits. Approved absences do not count against eligibility.
• Safe Operation Bonus — $500: Earned by employees who follow safe operating procedures and finish the season without preventable damage to company equipment or customer property. Normal wear and mechanical failures unrelated to operator misuse do not count against eligibility.

All accidents, damage, and equipment issues must be reported promptly. Reporting an incident does not automatically disqualify an employee from a bonus. Full bonus terms and payment dates will be provided in writing at hiring.
