Job summary

Naval Air Station Corpus Christi in Corpus Christi, Texas, seeks a grounds maintenance worker in the Recreation Branch of the Recreation Division, Recreational Services Department. The primary function is maintaining and upkeeping grounds and the RV park to ensure facilities are in excellent condition.

Ideal candidates will show specialized experience operating tractors and equipment, including boom slope mowers, and making mechanical connections between equipment.

Qualifications

  • Specialized experience must demonstrate ability to operate tractor and equipment controls simultaneously.
  • Skill in operating boom slope mowers to cut grass on slopes while tractor is on level ground or along roads.
  • Knowledge of equipment to make mechanical connections from equipment to tractor (drive shafts, hydraulic lines).
  • Experience performing tasks related to grounds maintenance and understanding tractor/towed equipment characteristics.
  • Ability to obtain applicable state and/or government driver's licenses.

Job description

This position is located in the Recreation Branch, Recreation Division, Recreational Services Department, Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi, Texas. The primary function of this position is the maintenance and upkeep of grounds and RV park to assure that they are always in excellent condition.

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Knowledge and ability to manipulate both tractor and equipment controls at the same time, e.g., operate tractors while raising and lowering gang mowers.
  • Skilled in operating boom slope mowers to cut grass on slopes while operating the tractor on level ground or along roads.
  • Knowledge of equipment to make multiple connections from the equipment to the tractor, connecting mechanical drive shafts and hydraulic lines.
  • Skilled in performing tasks associated with grounds maintenance.
  • Knowledge of operating characteristics of the tractor and towed or attached equipment.
  • Knowledge of equipment capabilities.
  • Possess or be able to obtain applicable state and/or government driver's licenses.
