Overview

Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is a 365-entertainment destination for world-class events located in Austin, TX. The sports and entertainment portfolio at COTA is unmatched in the country with Formula 1 US Grand Prix, NASCAR and MotoGP attracting global fans during championship races on the famed Circuit and Live Nation producing over 30 headline concerts every year at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater. Opening in 2026, COTA’s amusement park is a 20-acre theme park featuring two first of their kind Roller Coasters and over three dozen rides.

Job Description

The Track Operator is responsible for assisting the Track Lead along with Facilities Superintendent in the repair and maintenance of the race track and grounds for the Circuit of The Americas (COTA).

Essential Functions
  • Assist with repair/maintenance and operations required for the facility and events including but not limited to; races, track rentals, concerts/entertainment, conferences, banquets, facility rental, etc.
  • Maintain all aspects of the track and track grounds.
  • Maintain all catch fencing to track specifications and other COTA owned gates and fencing for security.
  • Maintain all TECPRO and Armco to track specifications.
  • Manage inventory of track equipment/materials, keep clean and organized.
  • Clean track before, during, after each event and as needed.
  • Understand the operation of all track equipment.
  • Develop new methods for working more efficiently around the track area.
  • Work side by side with the track and ground teams to provide support and manage productivity.
  • Assist with painting of track.
  • Work with the ground crew to manage weeds and grass around the track.
  • Keep all gravel traps manicured.
  • Observes track and facility safety and security procedures.
  • Pick up trash throughout the property.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This is a Full Time role that requires onsite availability.

  • Will need to learn how to communicate effectively with Race Control and Track Safety personnel.

Requirements
  • English speaking.
  • Ability to work long hours and with a dynamic schedule (days/hours vary, not always 8am-5pm).
  • Ability to work in stressful situations and remain focused.
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) for the task (e.g., boots, pants, eye/ear protection, hard hat, safety vest, harness, etc.).
  • Heavy equipment operation experience is a plus.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 lbs.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception.
  • Must be able to endure seasonal temperatures as working conditions require constant outdoor work.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud during events.
