Role Overview

Embark on a fulfilling career in our Engineering Department as part of the Track Maintenance Team. Your role will involve constructing, inspecting, and repairing tracks and maintaining railway corridors.

This is a full-time (40 hrs/week) position that requires on-call duties, overtime, night shifts, alternating shifts, weekends, and holidays. Travel to job sites for extended periods, sometimes days or weeks, in the designated seniority region is required. Training includes company-paid on-the-job and classroom sessions at the BNSF Training Center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Track maintenance, repair, and installation, including rebuilding tracks, pulling spikes, cutting, welding, and removing hazards from the right of way.
  • Maintain trackbed by manually adjusting ballast, ties, and rails.
  • Operate power tools and hand tools safely and effectively.
  • Work in diverse weather conditions and around heavy machinery, following all safety protocols.

Relocation assistance is not provided, and there is a 60-day probationary period. Duties are representative and not exhaustive.

Qualifications
  • Legal ability to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • At least 18 years old by the start date.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel and work extended periods on-site.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs, distinguish colors, and perform physical activities such as climbing, bending, and standing.
  • Proficiency in English communication.

Union membership with the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees (BMWE) and union dues are required. Transfers are handled per union agreement and require approval.
