About the Role

Embark on a fulfilling career at BNSF Railway in our Engineering Department. As part of the Track Maintenance Team, you will construct, inspect, repair tracks, and maintain railway assets and corridors.

This is a full-time position (40 hours/week), requiring on-call availability, overtime, night shifts, alternating shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Travel to job sites for extended periods, sometimes days or weeks, within the designated seniority region, is required.

Training is company-paid, including on-the-job and classroom instruction at the BNSF Training Center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Track maintenance, repair, and installation, including maintaining a clean right of way by removing hazards.
  • Maintain trackbed by manually compressing ballast, replacing ties, and adjusting rails.
  • Operate equipment and hand tools such as drills, impact wrenches, jacks, saws, and grinders.
  • Work in a safety-sensitive environment, often in extreme weather conditions and around machinery.
  • Adhere to safety regulations, wear protective equipment, and respond to emergencies.
Additional Information

Relocation assistance is not provided. A 60-day probationary period applies.

Qualifications
  • Able to work in the US without sponsorship now and in the future.
  • At least 18 years old by the start date.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to report to designated work locations and work safely in conditions described.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to distinguish colors and sounds.
  • Capability to climb equipment, bend, walk, stand, and use hand tools.
  • Follow safety policies and wear PPE.

Union membership with the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees (BMWE); dues are required.

Seniority transfers are union-based and require approval.
